On behalf of the National Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) we invite you all
to our National Assembly for 2009.
Please join us!
‘The Holy Spirit in this land’, is our
theme for the 2009 Assembly, on the traditional land of the Turrbal
people, who will welcome us.
The Bardon Conference Centre Brisbane is
the venue on the 20th to 25th September, 2009. The conference centre
is set in a beautiful bush setting outside Brisbane. Mercy Place,
which is another venue, is nearby and also in bush setting.

We welcome all Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander ministries, clergy, religious, Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander Catholic Councils, community groups, Catholic
Education, Aboriginal youth groups and everyone who has an interest
in Aboriginal ministries.
We will be celebrating the achievements of
our Elders past and present, with the honour roll; ‘Celebrating the
Spirit’. This will also be a great time for our Aboriginal youth, as
there will be special events and programs set in place and an
excursion to Dreamworld.
Pat Dodson will provide our keynote
address. There will also be a presentation on the history of NATSICC,
and the early days of the pioneering people of the Aboriginal
Islander Catholic Council.
Our 2009 NATSICC Assembly aims to help
Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders move forward in their
Catholic faith, and support our youth on their journey,
strengthening our relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Please join us in celebrating our
Christian faith. We are looking forward to sharing this time with
you.
In Peace and Unity,
Elsie Heiss,
Chairperson,
National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Catholic Council.

SPONSORSHIP
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Catholic Council would like to acknowledge the below
sponsors for their support in this years assembly. The Sponsorship
Prospectus can be viewed from the downloads page of this website.
The Sisters of Mercy, Grafton, a
group of women religious committed to the Reconciliation process, have been associated with Aboriginal
people on the North Coast of NSW for over a hundred years.
The Sisters have developed a Social
Justice Action Project designed to enable Sisters at the local level
to be involved in empowering people in situations that are the
result of systemic injustice. While this is a micro rather than a
macro project, it has been used in a variety of situations to meet differing needs rooted
in some form of injustice.
