Invitation
Annual Conference of the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australia -
12-17 August 2010 - Mantra on Salt Beach, NSW Australia
Dear
Colleagues
As President of the Applied Neuroscience Society of Australia (ANSA)
it is with great pleasure that I invite you to take part in the next
exciting and significant event: The 2010 ANSA Annual Conference.
This year’s event will be the next important step for our Society in
promoting and advancing the field of Applied Neuroscience in
Australasia. We are witnessing the explosion of Neuroscience which
is dramatically changing the landscapes of brain health. This gives
us opportunities to embrace more evidence-based personalised
approaches based on advanced neurotechnologies that are rapidly
becoming available for clinical practitioners. This is why we have
chosen the 2010 Conference Theme:
Brain Health in the 21st Century:
Evidence-Based Interventions and Emerging Neurotechnologies
The ANSA Annual Conference aims to:
-
promote the scientific study and professional practice of Applied
Neuroscience through methods including biofeedback, neurotherapy,
applied psychophysiology and nutrition. We offer training and
further education for health professionals in the application of
biofeedback, neurotherapy, applied psychophysiology, nutrition and
other self-regulatory therapeutic tools.
-
encourage research and expansion of clinical and educational
applications of applied neurosciences
We are working hard to make sure that the wonderful success of the
2009 conference will be matched in 2010 in quality of presentations
and workshops as well as venue. The feedback we received from the
2009 conference participants encouraged the conference committee to
choose Mantra at Salt once again to host our event this year. The
location of the resort gives delegates the opportunity to immerse in
depths of our field while enjoying the stunning beaches and scenery
of Australia’s best kept secret- the New Tweed Coast: Northern
Rivers of NSW.
The highlights of 2010 conference:
This year we have combined forces with the Australian Academy of
Functional Neurology who will contribute speakers to both the
Symposium and Conference program, as well as conduct a concurrent
one-day pre-conference workshop.
Also don’t miss our feature event, a one day international
symposium on PTSD, Brain Injury and Post-Concussion Syndrome,
chaired by Professor Sandy MacFarlane, world authority on PTSD.
The symposium will explore the unique contribution of
neurotechnologies to developing personalised assessment and
treatment in this extremely important clinical field. ANSA will
bring together various stakeholders as a think tank to share
understanding and build partnerships across sectors such as health,
education, welfare, justice, rehabilitation, and employment. ANSA
aims to establish a working group to develop Australian guidelines
for the assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury that
draws on the evidence of neurophysiological research and applied
neuroscience. We are also negotiating for Professor Juri Kropotov to
present on-line the results of a large study on Brain Injury now
being analysed in Norway.
The conference program will feature distinguished keynote presenters
including:
Professor Richard Clark, Head of the School of Psychology at
Flinders University, whose interests focus on the location and
dynamics of working memory function in the human brain.
Dr Roger deBeus and Dr Mary deBeus from North
Carolina, U.S. will present a two-day post-conference workshop on
Functional QEEG: how to integrate client symptoms with brain mapping
to improve Neurotherapy outcomes. Roger and Mary deBeus are both
BCIA fellows and have many year of experience in Neurofeedback and
QEEG and have developed a unique approach to interpretation of QEEG.
Sebern Fisher, a renowned psychodynamic psychotherapist and a
practitioner of Neurofeedback, with published papers on integrating
Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy; attachment disorder and
Neurofeedback. Sebern will present a one day pre-conference workshop
also on Thursday August 12.
Morning and afternoon sessions in the conference program will
offer participants the opportunity to present latest research and
topics of interest
About Our Logo
Our conference logo has been adapted from an original
artwork by Sally Butler “Brain Dreaming Tracks”.
Aboriginal Australians have been living in harmony for
thousands of years with the natural frequency given off
by the earth, later ‘discovered’ and called the Schumann
Resonance.
It is believed that Aboriginal people sensed
this frequency and that possibly there is a connection
with their mythological songlines – their traditional
migratory pathways through the desert, based on this
resonance. Perhaps the sound of the didgeridoo is the
ancient art of a natural audio entrainment technology.
Do we need to entrain with the frequency of nature? Is
neurofeedback our modern attempt to do this?
We look forward to welcome you at our conference and
thank you for supporting the field of Applied
Neuroscience.
Warm Regards
Nerida Saunders
ANSA President
